		<description>You may have understated the problems with biodiesel. I am an environmentalist, but I am against most biodiesel.

1. Often the emissions created making the biodiesel are greater than the emissions reduced. Palm oil production is the leading cause of deforestation in certain areas. In Malaysia, it has been responsible for 87%, according to Friends of the Earth.

2. It causes food prices to go up, literally starving people. From the IMF website:
"Higher biofuel demand in the United States and the European Union (EU) has not only led to higher corn and soybean prices, it has also resulted in price increases on substitution crops and increased the cost of livestock feed by providing incentives to switch away from other crops."</description>
